New Year's Eve "Dinner for One"

While looking for new recipes for black-eyed peas
to make for good luck for the coming year,
I found this interesting blog called The Real Paul Jones.

It didn't have black-eyed peas
but it did tell
what Germans do on New Year's Eve...
Here is the link to that blog.
~~~~~
It says that the Germans watch a movie every year called "Dinner for One"
that was written in the 1920's and filmed in 1963
about an english woman and her butler.
~~~~~
According to the L.A. Times yesterday:
"The story is disarmingly
simple.
The dotty Miss Sophie is celebrating her 90th birthday
in what she likes to imagine is the presence of her old pals.
The dinner guests, though, are all long dead,
so her obliging butler, James,
pretends to be each of them.

He mimics their voices and drinks each of their to
asts in turn,
getting steadily more smashed as the evening proceeds."

The paper described it as a type of Rocky Horrer Picture show
that is funnier every time you watch it.
Here is the link to watch "Dinner for One".It is only 10.50 minutes long on YouTube, of course!
The original is quite a bit longer - OK, it's 15 minutes!
~~~~~
Enjoy watching
„Der 90. Geburtstag oder Dinner for One“ am Silvesterabend.
(Which I translate to "The 90th Birthday or
Dinner for One on New Year's Eve.)
~~~~~
And remember, the same procedure as every year!

RAMS GAME DAY 17: Rams @ Vikings

at Well, unfortunately since I was a Redskins fan tonight and they lost to the Giants, so do my Rams lose their race to the playoffs. However, we still hope to beat the Vikings! Sorry to my good friends who are fervent Vikings fans - but I still want another win for my Rams!

RAMS GAME DAY 16: Redskins @ Rams

UPDATED: W37-31
at
We were at the Dome for this game,
with my parents who were visting for the holidays.
It was even my mother's very 1st NFL Game
and she hoped for an exciting game -- it was!!!!!
Hence, the pictures included in this post!
And here come THE RAMS!!!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~
While the Redskin fan in front of us was taking a picture of the scoreboard at the end of the game, I "thought" I was taking a good picture of the scoreboard myself, since we had won the very scary overtime game. However,
I was so happy that we won, my picture turned out totally blurry.
~~~~~
Maybe his picture turned out better!?!
~~~~~
And then both teams joined together for some sort of prayer circle after the game.

Snow Prodictions...

This is from WeatherBug:

With the holiday season fast approaching, many people are starting to wonder if they will have a "White Christmas" this year.

Although it is still too early to tell exactly where there will be snow on the ground on Dec. 25, past history does give a clue. Using more than 30 years of Christmas weather observations, government climatologists have produced probabilities of a White Christmas.

A "White Christmas" is defined as at least 1 inch of snow being on the ground the morning of Dec. 25. This does not necessarily mean that the snow fell on Dec. 24 or 25.

As expected, the Great Lakes region and the mountains of the West have the highest probability of seeing a White Christmas. Areas that have a 60% or better chance of snow on the ground on Dec. 25 include the northern Rockies, northern Great Plains, the lake-effect snow belts surrounding all of the Great Lakes and most of inland New England.

There are only five locations in the U.S. that have a 100% probability of a White Christmas. They are Stampede Pass, Wash.; Marquette and Sault Ste Marie, Mich.; and Hibbing and International Falls, Minn.

Stampede Pass, Wash., in the Cascade Mountains east of Tacoma, has a 96% chance that there will be more than 10 inches of snow on the ground on Dec. 25.

If you want to avoid snow for the holiday, the southern third of the nation is where you want to head. The chance of a White Christmas is less than 20% in this part of the country. For Florida, the Gulf Coast, lower Mississippi Valley, southern Plains, lower Desert Southwest and coastal sections of southern and central California, the chance of snow being on the ground Dec. 25 is nearly zero.

Toes and Tummy Tuesday for Two Cats

I found this picture of China Cat and Willow from last year.
You can see China's pink belly - there is no fur on it.
Good tummies and toes, girls...Don't they look so content!

Willow's Reflection

This is one of Willow's favorite places to sit or lay down and watch whatever is going on in the backyard. Usually there are lots of squirrels and birds, plus chipmunks and rabbits in the summer. I thought with her coloring she looked so pretty on this afghan, made by Grandma. After I put the pictures on the computer
was when I discovered her reflection in the sliding glass door.

Tummy Tuesday

Rosie is a rescued dachshund who was staying at my in-law's neighbor's house while she was waiting to have her babies. I had never seen a pregnant dachshund before and was amazed that she could still run around. Her belly was almost touching the ground! She had 7 beautiful little puppies.

Friday After the Storm

The midwest was pretty much frozen this weekend.
Here's the temperature in my backyard Friday afternoon.
But it felt much colder with the wind chill! And then this is what I saw in my backyard.
That pole had been standing straight up... And, no swimming today!

RAMS GAME DAY 13: Cardinals @ Rams

UPDATE: L20-34
atSince it is half time now, Willow wanted to help the Rams
by showing them how to sneak up on the Cardinals.
~~~~~
She also wants it to be known that this is not a slow sneak,
they must sneak very quickly.
She will not be showing the actual "strike" on the Cardinal
but the "sneak" only.First you sneak around behind them,
preferably behind the quarterback
or whoever has the ball,
then move in closer and closer
until you have snuck into striking postion. Then it's time to pounce.
There you go Rams.
Just do it as Willow explained and please win the game.
My Daughter's Birthday
Today is my daughter's birthday!
~~~~~ ~~~~~

Since it is early Saturday morning, I'll be waiting until later to call her with happy birthday wishes - it's not a good idea to call early and wake her up!
This is a picture of her cat, Alice
(one of my two grand-kitties) on Alice's first birthday.
~~~~~ ~~~~~ ~~~~~ ~~~~~ ~~~~~ ~~~~~ ~~~~~ ~~~~~
My cats, China Cat and Willow won't allow the indignity of wearing hats - but, I'm still working on that. ^..^
~~~~~
So here is Alice in her birthday hat
for my daughter's birthday:
My daughter gave me this unicorn coffee cup for my birthday approximately 25 years ago. I use it alot but always on both my birthday and her birthday.
So, this morning's Pineapple Ginger Green Tea is raised
in honor of her birthday!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BABY!
