PhotoHunt Theme: Self (yourself or part of you)

The theme this week is "self (yourself or part of you)" so I looked through my pictures and found any pictures of me were taken by other people. Actually there are not a lot of me as I usually take the pictures! But then after trying to take a good picture of my eyes or of my hands, I remembered some pictures that I had taken of myself, which fulfills the theme for today.
~~~~~
In October, my husband and I went to the Botanical Garden and it was very warm and sunny out and noticing my shadow, I took a picture of it. My head is not really that big and round - I had a big brimmed hat on to keep the sun off of my face! The umbrella in the corner I received for renewing membership - it didn't rain, it was just hot out! So there is a part of me: my shadow.
Then I found another picture of my shadow that I had taken when we went downtown to the Oyster Bar. You can see that it was a lot colder in March as I was very much bundled up! As always, you can find more Photohunters here!
PhotoHunt Theme: Shoes
The theme this week is "shoes" and I have always gone barefoot as much as possible. When wearing shoes, I have my flat, black mary janes, my highest of heels and my running shoes. But my shoes all come off fairly quickly so I thought I would highlight my husband's shoes. He has been wearing desert boots since he was in 6th grade!
~~~~~
This picture was taken today when we were at a local microbrewery and we were enjoying the outdoors listening to a band. I looked down, after taking pictures of the band, and saw that desert boot and knew it was my second Photohunt picture for shoes.
I had first thought about my daughter's wedding shoes for the theme today. She wore a beautiful renaissance type white gown and had found this pair of boots to wear for her wedding. She had always said that she wanted to wear boots for her prom and she did, so it followed that she would want boots for her wedding also. I was over at her house at the beginning of this year and she had just cleaned out her closet, so I took a picture of her totally organized closet. No, she doesn't take after me in organization! Anyway, there were her wedding boots in the top right corner so I cropped that picture for today's Photohunt to show off her beautiful wedding boots. As always, find more Photohunters here!

Cat Art and A Bunny

Last Sunday we went to an Art Fair that we attend every Mother's Day at Laumeier Sculpture Park. I couldn't take pictures of any of the art in the boothes, but this huge cat was near the center of the park. It is called "Ricardo Cat" (1999) and the artist was Niki de Saint Phalle (1930-2002). She died at the age of 71 after designing two sculpture gardens - one in Tuscany and one in California. Laumeier Sculpture Park had commissioned her to create a large scale sculpture for the Children's Garden here. After it was restored in California it returned to our park this Spring. The Missouri Botanical Garden is having an exhibition called "Niki" which is a collection of 39 pieces of her work now through October 31st. I haven't been there yet but I am looking forward to seeing it this Summmer.

(Click on the picture to see the details.)
China Cat & Willow naturally did not go with us to the Art Fair
but they were quite happy patrolling their porch,
after we got home from the Park.
Yes, they found another bunny!
I think it's funny how the bunnies never seem to notice
that they are being watched very closely by two cats!

PhotoHunt Theme: Candy

The theme this week is "candy" and my memories of my Grandfather always included hard candy. I think he started carrying hard candy with him when he quit smoking. Now, I don't even remember him smoking so that was quite a long time ago! The candy was usually red and white striped peppermint candies and yellow butterscotch candies, both of which I still love today! ~~~~~Continue the Saturday Photohunt at tnchick.com

Sunday Doodle Flower/Plant

Doodle Week started Thursday.
Here is where it started if you'd like to join in!
~~~~~
Sunday was Flower Doodle
and then Plant Doodle was added in
so I guess that I have not so much a plant as a tree
and a few flowers involved.
They all grow from the ground so I guess that it is all good!~~~~~
This picture is based on what they had to do to the Bradford Pear Trees in our area. Bradford Pears tend to have their branches broken quite easily. They were used in the parkways a lot which is also where the electrical wires are hanging. So last year they cut the trees to allow the electrical wires more space?!!?! Is this the best thing to do?!?!?!
It's a beautiful Merry Go Round
PhotoHunt Theme: Time and Weekend Cat Blogging #152
The theme this week is "time" and this was difficult in many ways. I thought about the watch and the clock and then all of the other versions of "time" and I decided to pick a few. In the garden I have a sundial. It is probably not positioned so that it tells the correct time but I like the way that it looks in the garden. This little timer belongs to my husband. He got it from his Grandfather. He told me that his Grandfather always kept it on top of the television set. But now we keep it on the mantle.The first thing I thought about what is happening with time is that it is "Tea Time" as I love to have my tea every day! For the theme, I did make myself a cup of tea and had a little tea party with the kitties. So, it's not really tea (China Cat & Willow had kibbles in their teacups) for the cats anyway, it's still a nice break called "Tea Time"...
