PhotoHunt Theme: Bird(s)

"Bird(s)" is the theme this week.
~~~~~
When we went to Lake Tahoe with my parents in September 2008 my husband and I drove around the lake. On the far side of the lake we stopped at Gar Woods Grill & Pier for lunch. Since it was so beautiful out, we ate outside on the deck. A few tables away from us I saw a little bird land looking for crumbs on the table. At first I thought that it had it's right leg tucked up like a flamingo. But it turned out to only have a left leg. It stood on the table for about 5 minutes, just looking around and then it flew away.
Ode to China Cat
This is what the poem says:
Felis Cattus, is your taxonomic nomenclature
An endothermic quadruped, carnivorous by Nature?
Your visual, olfactory and auditory senses
Contribute to your hunting skills and natural defenses.
I find myself intrigued by your subvocal oscillations
A singular development of cat communications
That obviates your basic hedonistic predilection
For a rhythmic stroking of your fur, to demonstrate affection.
A tail is quite essential for your acrobatic talents.
You would not be so agile if you lacked its counterbalance.
And when not being utilized to aid in locomotion
It often serves to illustrate the state of your emotion.
Oh China Cat, the complex levels of behavior you display
Connote a fairly well developed cognitive array.
And though you are not sentient, China, and do not comprehend,
I nonetheless consider you a true and valued friend.
