PhotoHunt Theme: Squeaky

"SQUEAKY" is the theme this week.
I have had both dogs and cats that liked SQUEAKY toys. I think that my daughter even liked some sort of toy that would make a SQUEAKY sound. But one of my very first toys when I was eleven months old for my very first Christmas was a stuffed toy named SQUEAKY. If you would squeeze him on the head, he would make a SQUEAKY noise.
Amazingly enough, the SQUEAKY thing still SQUEAKS!
Looking at him you can tell that SQUEAKY was well-loved
and certainly looks at least 50 years old!
China Cat likes him too!

PhotoHunt Theme: Wide

"WIDE" is the theme this week.
This morning right outside my office window I found a squirrel with a very WIDE tail. He was sitting in the tree looking in the window and then proceeded to fill himself up with the bird food from the feeder. Willow, who was told by her vet that she is getting a bit too WIDE, enjoyed watching the WIDE-tailed squirrel. She kept patting her paw on the window like she was trying to get his attention. China Cat, who is not WIDE at all,
also enjoyed watching and talking to the WIDE-tailed squirrel.
I did feature Alice on PhotoHunt before when the word was HEAVY.
Alice is my 20 pound WIDE-bodied grandkitty.
My cats will not tolerate having any hats or clothing put on them
but Alice doesn't mind at all.
My daughter and I had fun putting antlers on her this week

PhotoHunt Theme: Favorite

"FAVORITE" is the theme this week.
I have never put any pictures of my family or friends on my blog so I can't sh
ow any of those favorite pictures, of which I have many! However, my cats are always on my blogs and this is one of my favorite pictures of China Cat and Willow sleeping together. You may have seen it before because it is my avatar picture! ~~~~~

PhotoHunt Theme: Breakfast

"BREAKFAST" is the theme this week.
Almost every day I have oatmeal for breakfast made with steel cut oats. I always put cinnamon in while it's cooking and usually will add blueberries. This morning I didn't have any blueberries but did have an apple which I chopped up, cooked with the oats and it was delicious!~~~~~~~~~~I also have tea every morning for breakfast.Occasionally I make blueberry muffins. Yum!This is my husband's favorite breakfast, which he made himself! In the summer fresh blackberries are nice outside by the pool.
China Cat & Willow always eat their breakfast together as soon as I get up in the morning. It's no surprise that Willow loves her breakfast and always tries to eat out of China Cat's bowl.Another breakfast option is cold pizza from the night before.
My father always disagreed with this option!

PhotoHunt Theme: Metal

"METAL" is the theme this week.
Goodness, I had this done hours ago but forgot to post.....
Anyway, I need to find out about this METAL sculpture.
We drive by it when we take the long way to the winery.
It's on Highway 94, right in the middle of a field without any houses nearby.
I asked our friends who own the winery about it but they didn't know much about it either.
Regardless, it's very cool and really big and perfect for the METAL theme...
Close-up version Now, these are bison/buffalo made of METAL at our Shaw Nature Reserve,
formerly known as Shaw's Arboretum.
Here is my METAL cat which is a wine caddy!
My daughter and son-in-law gave this to me last Christmas with the blue bottle of wine included. She liked it because the blue of the wine bottle matched the cat's eyes!
My daughter also has the same lover for cats that I do!

Willow's Wish

This picture was created using a kit called Willow Wishes. As soon as I saw it, I knew that I wanted to do a layout featuring my cat, Willow. But I must tell you that Willow has never caught a bird, mouse or anything larger than a bug. In fact, she is afraid of almost everything - when the doorbell rings, she runs and hides under the bed. So I thought it was kind of fun to add the yellow finch to the picture and Willow really looks like she wants to get it!

PhotoHunt Theme: Reflection

"REFLECTION" is the theme this week.
Usually I end up with a picture of one or both of my cats but today I wanted to start with this picture of Willow. As you can see, her REFLECTION is in the glass window. She sits on her cat condo and looks out the bedroom window everyday. I really like how you can see her face in the REFLECTION more than you can see her face in the bedroom.
I showed Lone Elk Park in the previous photohunt for "ruin(ed)" where the ice had ruined a lot of the tree branches. Here is near the entrance to the park where you cannot see anything ruined,
but a lovely REFLECTION of the trees in the lake!
This little pond is near my house and I frequently take pictures of it when I am in the area. Sometimes the pond is filled with geese or ducks and occasionally an egret. On this day however, I found a beautiful REFLECTION of the clouds across the water. Here's a closer picture of the pond with the cloudy REFLECTION.Same pond on a different day with a REFLECTION of trees,
rather than clouds.
And leaving with my daughter's cat...
Here is Alice sitting in her doorway
with the REFLECTION of trees across the street
at the top to the door!

PhotoHunt Theme: Ruin(ed)

"RUIN(ED)" is the theme this week.
Every year some birds try building a nest on the beam in front of our garage door. Usually when my husband notices that they have started building, he takes the nest down. This year by the time we noticed it, the bird had already laid eggs so he left the nest alone.
Unfortunately, one day when I opened the garage door
I found that the nest had tipped over
and the eggs were all RUINED on the driveway.

It was such a sad start to my day...On a happier note, my husband's grandparents lived on a farm in Iowa.
My husband and his brothers and sister loved going there as kids.
His grandparents are no longer with us
but I took these pictures the last time we visited.
The building on the right was the chicken coop
and on the left was the outhouse.
The chicken coop didn't seem to be too RUINED...

But close up you can tell that the outhouse was definitely RUINED!

In 2007 we had a big ice storm here in the midwest.
Luckily, we didn't lose any trees or have any damage at our house.
We drove all around to see the ice covering everything.
We ended up at Lone Elk Park and drove through there.
So many trees were RUINED by having too much heavy ice on their branches.

We found a herd of bison walking around
the RUINED tree branches.

The adults didn't seem to notice all of the RUINED branches.
They were only interested in foraging!

But this cute little baby bison was fascinated
with one of the RUINED branches!

As were were driving out, the fog suddenly came back in.
With all of the ice and RUINED branches,
the park was still lovely.

But too much ice RUINED a lot of tree branches. ~~~~~
