PhotoHunt Theme: Metal

"METAL" is the theme this week.
~~~~
Goodness, I had this done hours ago but forgot to post.....
Anyway, I need to find out about this METAL sculpture.
We drive by it when we take the long way to the winery.
It's on Highway 94, right in the middle of a field without any houses nearby.
I asked our friends who own the winery about it but they didn't know much about it either.
Regardless, it's very cool and really big and perfect for the METAL theme...
Close-up version Now, these are bison/buffalo made of METAL at our Shaw Nature Reserve,
formerly known as Shaw's Arboretum.
Here is my METAL cat which is a wine caddy!
My daughter and son-in-law gave this to me last Christmas with the blue bottle of wine included. She liked it because the blue of the wine bottle matched the cat's eyes!
My daughter also has the same lover for cats that I do!
Willow's Wish
This picture was created using a kit called Willow Wishes. As soon as I saw it, I knew that I wanted to do a layout featuring my cat, Willow. But I must tell you that Willow has never caught a bird, mouse or anything larger than a bug. In fact, she is afraid of almost everything - when the doorbell rings, she runs and hides under the bed. So I thought it was kind of fun to add the yellow finch to the picture and Willow really looks like she wants to get it!
PhotoHunt Theme: Reflection
"REFLECTION" is the theme this week.
~~~~~
Usually I end up with a picture of one or both of my cats but today I wanted to start with this picture of Willow. As you can see, her REFLECTION is in the glass window. She sits on her cat condo and looks out the bedroom window everyday. I really like how you can see her face in the REFLECTION more than you can see her face in the bedroom.
I showed Lone Elk Park in the previous photohunt for "ruin(ed)" where the ice had ruined a lot of the tree branches. Here is near the entrance to the park where you cannot see anything ruined,
but a lovely REFLECTION of the trees in the lake!
This little pond is near my house and I frequently take pictures of it when I am in the area. Sometimes the pond is filled with geese or ducks and occasionally an egret. On this day however, I found a beautiful REFLECTION of the clouds across the water. Here's a closer picture of the pond with the cloudy REFLECTION.Same pond on a different day with a REFLECTION of trees,
rather than clouds.
And leaving with my daughter's cat...
Here is Alice sitting in her doorway
with the REFLECTION of trees across the street
at the top to the door!

PhotoHunt Theme: Ruin(ed)

"RUIN(ED)" is the theme this week.
~~~~
Every year some birds try building a nest on the beam in front of our garage door. Usually when my husband notices that they have started building, he takes the nest down. This year by the time we noticed it, the bird had already laid eggs so he left the nest alone.
~~~~~
Unfortunately, one day when I opened the garage door
I found that the nest had tipped over
and the eggs were all RUINED on the driveway.

It was such a sad start to my day...On a happier note, my husband's grandparents lived on a farm in Iowa.
My husband and his brothers and sister loved going there as kids.
His grandparents are no longer with us
but I took these pictures the last time we visited.
The building on the right was the chicken coop
and on the left was the outhouse.
The chicken coop didn't seem to be too RUINED...

But close up you can tell that the outhouse was definitely RUINED!

In 2007 we had a big ice storm here in the midwest.
Luckily, we didn't lose any trees or have any damage at our house.
We drove all around to see the ice covering everything.
We ended up at Lone Elk Park and drove through there.
So many trees were RUINED by having too much heavy ice on their branches.

We found a herd of bison walking around
the RUINED tree branches.

The adults didn't seem to notice all of the RUINED branches.
They were only interested in foraging!

But this cute little baby bison was fascinated
with one of the RUINED branches!

As were were driving out, the fog suddenly came back in.
With all of the ice and RUINED branches,
the park was still lovely.

But too much ice RUINED a lot of tree branches. ~~~~~

PhotoHunt Theme: Together

"TOGETHER" is the theme this week.
~~~~~
When I thought about what to post for TOGETHER I immediately thought of my two cats. They are almost always TOGETHER. In my picture organizer I did a sort using the names of my cats, China Cat and Willow. That sort produced 764 pictures of them TOGETHER in the same picture. So I chose a few, otherwise it would take way too long to look at this post!
~~~~~
First, China Cat and Willow always eat TOGETHER. Normally they just eat cat food out of their bowls, but the tuna cans were treats on Willow's birthday. The cans were not full - I
just left a little in the bottom of each can.
They loved it!
They both love to spend time out in the screened-in porch. Even though their prey is almost always on the other side of the screen, they enjoy hunting TOGETHER. Of course, sometimes bugs get inside and then they can really hunt TOGETHER. The scariest time was when a chipmunk managed to get into the porch and China Cat caught it and brought it in the house to show me. Needless to say, I was not pleased. She dropped the chipmunk and we spent about an hour trying to catch it TOGETHER so I could put it back outside! Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of that! They also spend a lot of time waiting TOGETHER. When the screened-in porch door is closed, they wait TOGETHER until someone lets them in.
And of course they also wait TOGETHER in the front windows,

looking for us to come home. What they do the most TOGETHER is sleep!~~~~~

PhotoHunt Theme: Blue

"BLUE" is the theme this week.
~~~~~
If you fly high enough, even when the clouds have hidden the BLUE sky,
you will find the BLUE sky!
Here we were flying back home over the clouds in the
BLUE sky.
This picture was taken while looking up at the Arch in St. Louis.
There were lots of cloud
s drifting by and plenty of BLUE sky!
Now our plane didn't fly like these planes, but the BLUE ANGELS are some of the finest planes I have ever seen. OK, I wouldn't want to fly in them but I do love watching them.
We always go to the Air Show
when the BLUE ANGELS are featured!
I also like to watch butterflies fly.
This one wasn't flying at the moment but look at those BLUE spots!
Willow "helped" me by flattening out the BLUE jeans
that I had just laid on the BLUE chair.
China Cat loves both of these BLUE blankets
once the weather starts getti
ng cooler.
Alice is wearing a BLUE Rams shirt.
We are hoping that the Rams will beat the Cardinals tomorrow!
